Merry New Year

It's New Year's Day and I'll have some black-eyed peas, collard greens, turnips and cornbread.
Again.
Like every New Year's Day.
Why?
Well, the tale goes that in late 1864 when Sherman marched his troops through Georgia, the soldiers were ordered to strip the land of all food, crops and livestock. It is said that they were told to destroy everything they couldn't eat or carry away. So, the Southerners were left with nothing to eat except black-eyed peas. And they fared well on those black-eyed peas. Now, they are thought to bring good luck and and health and hope of better days.
The collards are said to bring green stuff, moo-la, money, dinero, wealth.
The cornbread is yummy and goes well with everything on the plate. :)

Dream your dream for 2013.

And then....
cHaSe it.
MaKe it happen.
wOrK for it.

Yep, it can happen for you this year.
If you want it bad enough.
If you work hard enough.
If you are creative enough.

So dream big.
Or small.

Dream however and whatever you want to.

Just dream.

And then take steps towards that dream.

And hey~Keep me posted on when they come true.
I want to hear all about you realizing your 2013 dreams.

Wishing you a blessed and peaceful and DREAMY New Year!

  1. Happy New Year Rebekah! I started my dream this past November by joining Weight Watchers. I was down 10 pounds the week before Christmas...added 1 and 1/2 pounds back last week. Combination of too many Carbs I believe even though I was pretty much staying withing my points and not enough movement. I have made my first goal, my second is 15 pounds then I will decide from there how many more this 55 year old wants to loose. I expect a total of 25 would be the amount suggested....But if anyone is wanting to start a weight lose journey, I would suggest Weight Watchers because it is the only thing that has worked for me since I turned 40...That's a long time to be discouraged with your weight. I would love to look tall and slim as Rebekah but of coarse I will need to work on the short and slim. It is a small dream, I have larger ones, but one dream at a time.
