I put up some pictures at The City Farmgirl Blog.
By the by, I am totally "decorator-challenged" so this is going to be a real struggle and thrill. I've never been able to put colors and furniture and stuff together so that they look good. Nope, it is just not one of my talents or my skills. I wish it were. Can you learn such a thing? Or are you just born with it?
I have started looking at wall colors and found this cool tool on the Sherwin-Williams website. You are able to "try on" the colors. This is VERY helpful for someone like me.
Here's the way to my farmhouse-home post. See ya there!

Already been over to the other site for a visit. And just lovin your new digs. Have you joined Pinterest. Start some boards for each of your rooms and start pinning the ideas you will come by when you start looking for your colors and ideas. I have enough to keep me busy for years. lol.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Brenda, I guess I can't avoid Pinterest any longer. That sounds like a good idea to help me figure out some decorating! I see these lovely farmhouses and the interiors are all WHITE. Pretty, but I don't see how that works in REAL LIFE. White? On a farm? Anyway, don't I need an invite or something? Will you invite me?
DeleteI have sent an invite to your gmail. Let me know if you do not get it. White is not my thing. I like the look when I see it in everyone else's homes but I love color. So I get my whites added with frames, a couple of tables, wainscoting and wood trim and a few things here and there. Must have color on my walls, curtains and furniture. I have not really gotten on the paint everything white bandwagon. I guess I would be called a little eclectic, cottage and farmhouse style. Expect I will never be in a magazine. Shery Jespersen has some great Farmgirlish boards on Pinterest you will enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda! Loving it!
DeleteOk I've avoided commenting because I just can't pick a room! One room, are you kidding me? When I saw the picture of the front of your farm I gasped! Then I showed my Shug. IT IS STUNNING. I love it. No wonder you were excited, then bummed, then excited. I hope someday we get to hear the whole story. I bet you are as excited as a kid at an amusement park. I have a hard time with decorating. I like too many colors and styles. And it seems like by the time I get one style done in my house, I'm ready to change it. With our new house, I'm going with less stuff. I want to decorate with hand made items, such as sewn and crocheted pillows and quilts and afghans and such. And the pics I hang up, I want them to be of family gatherings and vacations. Have you ever noticed that when people look at your walls, they'll glance at your art-type pictures, but if you hang family pics on the walls they actually look at them. And the stuff, I want it to be special things, like the doll my deceased grandma gave me, and the paperweight that my neighbor gave me. So whatever you'd call that, that's what I'd do!

PS - Now I'm going to go on another tour of your house! Can the porch be my favorite? A porch swint or some tables and chairs, lemonade, tea, coffee, coffee cake, strawberries....
Cindy, I just knew you'd like that old place! I had never thought about the art vs. photos thing, but you are exactly right! Yeah, the porch is awesome, isn't it? My Mom came up to see the new digs and said, "I think I've died and gone to heaven." That pretty much sums it up for me too! HEAVEN on earth.
